Over the years, surprisingly, I’ve seen very little news about women’s undershirts.
In the traditional sense, I can see why women would not embrace the idea of wearing something us guys would wear.
As a base layer, with a few exceptions, I’ve mostly seen women’s tank tops and camisoles, which are both sleeveless.
Even our good friends over at Hanes, don’t have a fully thought-out version of an undershirt that addresses women’s needs, which I would assume not only includes offering full coverage and being super thin/lightweight, but also something that would be inconspicuous under the major of the available women’s tops.
Enter Nudy Patooty founder Michelle Shemilt, who created the line when she got fed up of not wearing some of her favorite tops for fear of staining them with perspiration or odors.
Her goal was to create an undershirt that could be worn under almost any style clothing to reduce the frequency of laundering, and most importantly prevent embarrassing odour and perspiration stains.
Michelle felt women should be able to confidently go through their day in comfort, without sacrificing their style.
In short, she wanted to create an extra layer of confidence!
Michelle collaborated with a top New York manufacturer and pattern maker to develop the perfect fitting undershirt, and the Nudy Patooty undershirt was born!
Well, Michelle has launched a Nudy Patooty Undergarment Revolution Indiegogo campaign and is looking to raise $35,000 to meet production minimums, and is currently about 40% funded with about 8 days left.
Her products will be made of 95% bamboo; 5% spandex, be offered in two sleeve lengths (short & 3/4) and colors (black and nude).
Pricing looks like it will be around $50 per undershirt, full retail. But you can get them for $35 during the Indiegogo campaign.
