Bamboo socks are taking over the (sock) world! But, if you’re like this reader, you may be feeling a little hesitant to try them.

I recently tossed most of my old cotton socks, and I’m looking to try something new. After doing a bit of my own research, I came across bamboo socks a number of times. However, as someone who struggles with sweaty feet (and, in the past, athlete’s foot), I’m wary of trying new fabrics out of fear that they’ll make my problems worse.
That said, I have a few questions:
Are bamboo socks worth the hype?
Are they breathable/good for athlete’s foot?

What brands carry quality bamboo socks?
Honestly, I’m just sick and tired of dealing with sweaty feet. I’m willing to try something different, but I’d like to hear an expert opinion on bamboo socks before I buy them.

Thanks for your question! Our feet have a high concentration of sweat glands, so sweaty feet are more common than you think.
There are a number of benefits to wearing bamboo socks. So, to answer your first question: yes. Bamboo socks are very much worth the hype, and here’s why.
Bamboo fabric is naturally absorbent, anti-microbial and breathable. In other words, not only will it keep your feet dry, but it will also hinder the growth of new and existing bacteria (meaning it’s great if you’re prone to athlete’s foot).
In my experience, bamboo socks are more absorbent and breathable than cotton socks. Unless cotton socks are treated with an anti-microbial property, they tend to increase your chances of developing bacteria or fungus on your feet. And, as an added bonus, bamboo socks are more eco-friendly than cotton socks (in most cases).
