NuDown: Air Insulated Jackets

December 20, 2014 | By | Reply More

For those of you looking to stay warm this winter, NuTech has designed a pretty interesting air-insulting jacket.

The NuDown vest and jacket are designed with intertwining air chambers, that as they inflate, offer increasing levels of insulation.

Every NuDown garment features our patented NuTech technology, giving you the power to create and adjust your ideal temperature no matter what the conditions.

20 pumps give you an initial blast of insulation that will suffice for normal activity on slightly chilly days.

30 pumps will do likewise in harsher cold.

And 40+ pumps will protect you in the cruelest of colds, like when you’re on the lift waiting to take that extra end-of-day run.

In place of regular air, the NuTech also offers an Argon inflation kit which allows the highest level CLO rating, and when used, beats similarly fitting “down” vests and jackets in insulation performance tests. Argon is heavier than air, so the density of Argon provides more insulation than straight air.

I saw on geeky-gadgets.com that these jackets were selling for $400-$600 which is pretty steep, though from a per coolness factor, they look pretty neat.

The website shows the items currently out of stock, but to check back in January 2015.
