The #1 Way To Hide Man Boobs (Gynecomastia)

Ah, man boobs. Those pesky not-so-little glandular chest tissues that can over grow on some men (young and old) to the extent of them looking similar to female breasts.

The medical term for this phenomenon is gynecomastia.

No matter what you call it, if you’ve got them, you’re likely walking around fairly embarrassed about it.

Here’s a young man wondering what he can do to hide his man boobs:

Hi I’m James,

I posted a comment a min ago but I thought it might not get to you.

So, my problem is that I am a rather large kid and I feel very uncomfortable wearing tight fitting clothes.

I was wondering if I could reduce my ‘cleavage’ with a binder or something.

Thanks,
James

PS. I’m a non-trans boy, so it’s not female breasts I want to hide.

Heya James,

Good to hear from you buddy and thanks for your question.

I totally get it my friend, and definitely can offer some advice.

First, a quick clarification — there’s a slight difference between gynecomastia (man boobs) and puffy nipples.

Both can be helped with undershirt binders for men, but generally speaking, if you just have puffy nipples, a fitted undershirt or male nipple covers will help mask those.

Now, assuming you have man-cleavage that you want to hide, the best non-surgical option is to wear a binder, or a slimming/shaping undershirt.

There are a handful of brands that offer men’s shapewear, but the one that offers the greatest selection is underworks.com.

They have different compression levels for different severities of man-boobness.

I’d recommend visiting their site and taking a look at their offering.

If you get confused, just email their support team and they’ll be happy to help you pick the right product.

How does that sound? Have any other questions?

Gynecomastia in Teens

Thanks so much!

My only problem is, I’m 14, so I’m constantly growing.

Will this be a problem, cus I’m on a tight budget, so I couldn’t afford to keep buying binders when I grow out of them.

Thanks, James

Hey James,

I can’t say for certain, but it’s possible you’ll grow out of it and become more lean.

If/when that occurs, you won’t have the need to wear binders or compression undershirts.

When I was your age and younger, I was rather heavy. Around the time I turned 15, I grew 2-3 inches, and leaned out quite a bit. For a while, I was pretty skinny.

While I still struggle to stay on the average build side, I definitely grew out of my early teen heavy-stage. So, you may grow out of it as well.

Not sure if you’re talking to your parents about this, but if you are, I would hope that they are understanding and compassionate to how you feel.

If so, maybe they’ll support you if you need to get additional gynecomastia binders or shaping undershirts as you get older, and help you with the purchase.

The good news is that these products will continue to fit you, unless you grow into a completely different size range.

Meaning, if you’re currently size large (or whatever size you currently are), as long as you stay that general chest circumference size as you grow up, you’ll be able to wear the same binder.

If your chest grows out of the size range, you’ll have to get a larger sized shirt.

Hope that helps! Keep me posted.

  1. Hi Tug.

Push-ups have worked for me. Some weeks I do procrastinate and slack on working out. The man boobs come back. lol.

Push-ups may not work for everyone, but for most people, any physical activity, especially excercise for the chest muscles, will help with man boobs.

I have a passion and interest in hormonal balance. Working out is a great way to regulate both the testosterone, as well as the estrogren levels in men and women. Boobs on a woman, well that’s a good thing.

If someone is genetically predisposed to Gynecomastia, plastic surgery may be their only choice. Surgery would not be My first choice.

I think that monitoring what we are eating or drinking, not to mention meds, is a good start.

For example, soy can actually increase estrogen levels in men and cause “man boobs.” Soy is everywhere. I’m no Doctor, but there is a correlation between Glandular issues and hormones.

    • hey lou!

really? 20 push-ups every day will get rid of man boobs?

i don’t really think that is 100% full-proof, because it has a lot to do with your glandular chest tissue.

that said, doing 20 push-ups every morning is definitely something worthwhile (:
