Here’s the response (Wow!)

Hey Tug – good to hear from you as well! Our proprietary Hydro-Shield is an ultra-thin durable compound polymer based hydrophilic film in between two thin cotton layers, all of which is by design. The benefits of this film are all native properties so it is not a “chemically” treated fabric and will not wash off/out over time. The proprietary layering and stitching system was engineered to control the thermal heat transfer/reaction off the film by way of the evaporative cooling effect, which is facilitated by the billowing effect of the wearers natural arm movement. All of which is unnoticeable to the wearer. The wearer may feel the cooling effect but nothing different than any other time sweat is met by air, which is our body’s natural way of cooling itself. The vapor transfer properties of the film (breathability) are further enhanced by the layering/stitching system. Vapor will travel on the molecular level of the film to reach an equilibrium with the outside air, so the more air we “billow” in, the better this process becomes, enhancing the overall comfort of the shirt. The choice to use cotton primarily stemmed from fighting odor as cotton allows odor molecules to break away much easier than polyester. The internal stitching system in particular, was designed to allow for maximum air circulation without comprising our barrier.

So for something so seemingly simple, a lot of thought/time/energy went into creating the “most advanced underarm sweat-proof barrier” available.
